The Blacksmiths Arms in the village of Newton on Ouse just to the north east of York
is a comfortable and traditional Yorkshire pub always offering a warm welcome to
its local patrons and the increasing numbers of visitors from York and further afield.
The word has got out that the ‘Blackies’ now serves an excellent, varied and traditionally
un-fussy menu. If you prefer well made home prepared and cooked food to the ‘gastro
pub style’, then this is the place for you.
As important as the food itself, being able to enjoy it with a top quality pint
of real ale, premium lager or glass of wine can only top off the experience. This
cosy pub and its staff have years of experience of preparing and serving beers and
wines at their peak of condition, (the ‘locals’ are the first to tell them if things
aren’t quite right!)
Any good pub is also the centre of local life and the Blacksmiths is no exception.
It’s always been willing to get involved in local fund raising for charities and
has over the last few years probably helped to raise over £25,000. Also a regular
venue for local bands and entertainers, the Blackies is a great place to spend a
few hours away from the hustle and bustle of the day.
Glenn, Lesley and their staff are ready to serve you with the best of food and drink
in an often humorous and lively little pub.
